Vedic Astrology

Vedic astrology, traditionally known as Jyotish (meaning "the science of light" in Sanskrit), is the astrological system originating in ancient India. It is based on the Vedas, the oldest sacred texts of Hindu philosophy and spirituality, and functions as a sister discipline to Yoga and Ayurveda. Unlike Western astrology (which focuses primarily on psychology and personality traits), Jyotish centers on the following fundamental pillars: The Law of Karma: This is the central axis. Vedic astrology analyzes the birth chart as a record of past life actions and choices, revealing dharma (life purpose) and the karmic lessons or challenges we face in the present. 

The Sidereal Zodiac: It uses the sidereal zodiac (which takes into account the actual, fixed positions of the constellations in the sky) instead of the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. 

Prediction and Cycles (Dashas): It is renowned for its predictive accuracy. It employs a unique system called Dashas, ​​which are specific planetary periods that mark the precise stages of life in which certain energies, opportunities, and challenges will be activated. The 27 Lunar Mansions (Nakshatras): The Moon and its position hold paramount importance in Vedic astrology. The zodiac is divided into 27 Nakshatras, which allow for a much deeper and more emotional analysis of personality than the 12 traditional signs. 

Map Divisions (Vargas): Uses multiple secondary maps (in addition to the main map) to detail specific aspects of life such as career, marriage, or wealth.

Jyotisha (Sanskrit: ज्योतिष, romanized as jyotiṣa, "splendor, radiant light") also known as Vedic astrology, Indian astrology or Hindu astrology, is the traditional Hindu system of astrology. It is considered one of the six auxiliary disciplines for understanding the Vedas, therefore a Smrti, and the main oracular means of Sanātana Dharma[1][2]. 

Being a religious discipline, it must be studied with an authorized master, following the disciplic succession of a lineage.

Vedic astrology is known in astrological studies as the most accurate form of all astrology, bringing together practices from various peoples such as Babylonians, Greeks, Arabs and Hindus in a concise way and subordinated to the dharmic worldview, with a calculation methodology based on the sidereal zodiac, which considers the precession of the equinoxes, allowing their positions to be close to those adopted by modern astronomy.
