We all fight internal battles between reason and passion, between what we know is right and the forces of our unconscious that oppose it—tendencies we have been nurturing for countless lifetimes.

Selfishness, aggressive responses, lies, dishonesty, and betrayal struggle with our desire to be better human beings. Remember that in all those countless lives, we have been everything. And our actions have been imprinted, becoming thoughts that can be translated into actions.

Remember that these tendencies, generated by karmic seeds, are represented in the birth chart by the planets. The best way to stop the enemy army in the internal battle is through two techniques: Shaamata and Vispashyana, as they are called in Buddhism, that is, concentration and meditation. Through reflection on philosophical principles, such as wisdom, ignorance, and other principles, we sow seeds opposed to those that promote pain and suffering. In Vedanta, these techniques are called Shraavana and Maanana. Listen to talks, classes, or lectures about the Dharma and then reflect on what you hear. The more we do this, the stronger new seeds are created that neutralize our adharmic tendencies.

We know that eradicating certain habits is not easy, but it is not impossible. There are many examples of murderers and criminals who became saints, such as Jetsun Milarepa in Tibet and Angulimala, a criminal whom the Buddha ordained as a monk. We can also refer to the case of Francis of Assisi, who, after being a rich but unrestrained young man, reached the spiritual heights we all know.

A HERO IS ONLY ONE WHO WINS THE BATTLE AGAINST HIMSELF!
