Karma

A person's longevity is controlled by karma, as it is the actions of the past and present, and their consequences, that determine how long they will live or how long they must remain on this physical plane to extinguish their "prarabdha" karma, or the karma they must work on in this incarnation. The longer a person lives, the more seeds they have brought into this lifetime to experience happy, mixed, or painful events. Once the karma of this life is completed, the prana, along with the mind and the next active seeds, will move to the new body of the next incarnation.
